Carrack
Late in the 15th century one of the most quality type of ships appeared. The carrack with a complete set of sails, was more manageable than all his ancestors, and also, very importantly, capable of ocean cruises. The carracks were the main part of Henry VII and Henry VIII's fleet. During these times British fleet was almost invincible, and this is very much due to the use of these ships.
Armed with hundreds of iron and brass guns, carracks of more than 1 000 tons were universal - could be used both as merchantmen and men-of-war. To enhance trade between the New World, and the Far East, Spain invested into a number of carracks weighing 1 600 tons each.
